Beef and Potato Dish

I love tasty food, so I never saw the phrase “meat and potatoes” as a good thing. Once again, my assumptions have been proven wrong. This simple recipe for Beef and Potatoes is everything I never thought fried potatoes and ground beef could be.

This simple recipe with ground beef is tasty, filling, and healthy for our meal plan.

Ingredients:

List of items needed to make a recipe.

1 medium Russet potato or 2 white potatoes, peeled and cut into small pieces.

1 pound of ground beef

1 teaspoon of salt, add more if needed.

1 teaspoon of powdered garlic

1 teaspoon of cumin

1/2 teaspoon of pepper

1 small piece of garlic, finely chopped

1 small white onion cut into small pieces

2 big Roma tomatoes cut into pieces

Chop 1 to 2 serrano peppers into small pieces.

1/4 cup of water, a little salt, and some Mexican oregano.

How to Cook Ground Beef and Potatoes

Heat a small amount of olive oil in a nonstick pan over medium heat for a few minutes. Put the chopped potatoes in the pan and cook them until they are golden and crispy in some areas.

I enjoy putting a lid on my potatoes while they are cooking. The steam produced helps them cook faster on the inside. Put the potatoes on a plate with paper towels to remove excess oil, and leave them there.

Put the minced meat in the pan and cook over medium to high heat. Season the beef with 1 teaspoon of salt, 1 teaspoon of garlic powder, 1 teaspoon of cumin, and 1/2 teaspoon of pepper. Cook for 8 to 10 minutes until golden brown.

Put the garlic and onion in the pan and cook for 2 to 3 minutes. Put tomatoes, serrano peppers, a quarter cup of water, salt, and oregano in the blender. Blend until everything is smooth.

Add the tomato mixture to the picadillo. Wait until it boils and then taste it to see if it needs more salt. Mix the potatoes gently until they are well incorporated.

Add spices to your liking and let it cook gently until the sauce becomes thicker and reduces, for about 7 to 10 minutes.

Take it off the stove.
