Creamy Potato Soup: A Traditional and Comforting Dish

Potato soup is the best comfort food – warm, creamy, and fulfilling. This easy and tasty soup is great for a relaxing evening at home or a fast dinner during the week. This soup is simple to prepare and loved by all because it has soft potatoes, tasty onions, and a delicious creamy broth.

Ingredients:

6 medium potatoes, peeled and cut into small pieces.
1 onion of medium size, chopped.
3 pieces of garlic, finely chopped
4 cups of chicken or vegetable broth
1 cup of heavy cream (or milk for a lighter choice)
2 tablespoons of butter
1 teaspoon of dried thyme
Add salt and pepper according to your preference.
Toppings you can choose from: Grated cheese, crunchy bacon, chopped green onions, and sour cream.

Directions:

Cook the onions and garlic in a pan with some oil. In a big pot, melt the butter on medium heat. Put the chopped onions in the pan and cook them until they are tender, which should take around 5 minutes. Put the garlic in and cook for one more minute until it smells good.

Prepare the potatoes: Put the chopped potatoes in the pot and add chicken or vegetable broth. Put the dried thyme in and add salt and pepper to taste. Heat the soup until it boils, then lower the heat and let it cook gently for 15-20 minutes, or until the potatoes are soft.

Mix the soup: When the potatoes are soft, you can use a hand blender to mix the soup until it reaches the thickness you prefer. If you like your soup thicker, only blend some of the potatoes. To make soup smoother, blend it well.

Add cream: Mix in the thick cream (or milk) and warm it up, but do not let it boil. Try the soup and add more salt and pepper to adjust the flavor if necessary.

Serve and add toppings: Pour the creamy potato soup into bowls and add your favorite toppings like grated cheese, crunchy bacon, chopped green onions, or a spoonful of sour cream.

Cooking Advice:

For a thicker soup, crush some of the potatoes before mixing in the cream.
Healthier choice: Substitute milk or half-and-half for cream to make a lighter soup.
Make it your own: You can include more veggies such as carrots or celery to give it extra taste and nutrients.
