Here’s Why Purchasing a Rotisserie Chicken from Walmart Is a Bad Idea

You should probably think twice before buying another rotisserie chicken from Walmart. Even if it’s on sale, the cheap price tag can be deceiving since you’re only receiving 1 pound and thirteen ounces of chicken—less than 2 pounds—for $4.98. When you can get a bigger chicken at Costco or Sam’s Club for the same price, why settle for less?

Even though Walmart owns Sam’s Club, the quality of the goods is different. The rotisserie chickens at Costco and Sam’s both come in at a massive 3 pounds. Both size and taste are important considerations. Many customers have complained that the chicken was either overdone or undercooked in their reviews posted on Walmart’s product page. Costco, on the other hand, always comes out on top in taste testing. The most succulent and delectable rotisserie chicken is found at Costco, whereas the least delicious is found at Walmart.

The rotisserie chickens at Sam’s are better than the ones at Costco any day of the week, according to one Reddit member. In terms of salt content, however, Walmart does have the upper hand. The rotisserie chicken at Walmart has 690 mg of salt per 3-ounce portion, which is somewhat more than the 550 mg and 460 mg seen at Sam’s Club and Costco, respectively. Rotisserie chicken from Whole Foods is a great option for those managing their salt consumption as it contains just 280 mg of sodium per quarter of a bird, which is far lower than other brands.
