Ingredients

(Serves 6–8)

  • 2 (8 oz each) tubes of crescent roll dough
  • 1 pound (450g) sliced deli corned beef, chopped
  • 1 (14 oz) can sauerkraut, drained and patted dry
  • 2 cups (200g) shredded Swiss cheese
  • ½ cup (120ml) Thousand Island or Russian dressing
  • 1 tablespoon caraway seeds (optional, for authentic flavor)
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat the Oven
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

Step 2: Prepare the Crescent Base
  1. Unroll one tube of crescent roll dough and press it into the bottom of the prepared baking dish, pinching the seams together to create an even layer.

Step 3: Layer the Filling
  1. Spread half of the shredded Swiss cheese over the crescent dough base.
  2. Layer the chopped corned beef evenly over the cheese.
  3. Top with the drained sauerkraut, spreading it out evenly.
  4. Drizzle the Thousand Island dressing over the sauerkraut.
  5. Sprinkle the remaining Swiss cheese on top.

Step 4: Add the Top Layer
  1. Unroll the second tube of crescent roll dough and carefully lay it over the filling. Pinch the edges together to seal.
  2. Brush the top with beaten egg for a golden, glossy finish. Sprinkle with caraway seeds, if desired.

Step 5: Bake
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 20–25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and puffed.
  2. Let the bake rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing.

Step 6: Serve
  1. Cut into squares and serve warm with extra Thousand Island dressing on the side for dipping.
