A decadent dessert with a buttery crust and a creamy, gooey topping—perfect for any occasion!
Ingredients
For the Base:
- 1 box yellow cake mix (dry)
- 8 tbsp melted butter
- 1 egg
For the Sticky Layer:
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 16 oz powdered sugar
Instructions
1. Preheat the Oven
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan with butter or cooking spray.
2. Prepare the Base
- In a mixing bowl, combine the dry cake mix, melted butter, and egg.
- Stir until well blended and a smooth dough forms.
- Press the dough evenly into the prepared baking pan, creating an even crust.
3. Make the Sticky Layer
- In a separate large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth.
- Add the beaten eggs and mix for a few minutes until incorporated.
- Gradually mix in the powdered sugar, beating until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
4. Assemble the Bars
- Spread the sticky layer evenly over the prepared crust.
5. Bake
- Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the top is set but still slightly gooey in the center.
- Avoid overbaking to preserve the soft, sticky texture.
6. Cool and Serve
- Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan.
- Once cooled, cut into squares or bars for serving.
Tips for Success
- For easier cutting, refrigerate the bars for about 30 minutes after cooling.
- Add a sprinkle of powdered sugar or a drizzle of caramel on top for extra sweetness.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or in the fridge for up to a week.
