We are about to reveal the secret to making the finest flatbread you have ever eaten, and it can be done right in the comfort of your own home. Say goodbye to the oven and welcome to the stovetop before we reveal this secret. We invite you to join us as we explore the art of breadmaking and learn about the pleasure of making something really unique from scratch.
Ingredients
- Warm Water 300 ml, or 1 1/2 cups: This is the base of our flatbread. Warm water wakes up the yeast and helps the dough stick together, making it soft and stretchy. Making sure the water is just the right temperature—not too hot or too cold—is important for making good bread because it lets the yeast do its thing and makes light, airy bread.
- One teaspoon 7 grams of salt: Salt balances out the sweetness of the dough and gives the end product a spicy creaminess. It also adds depth of flavor and improves the overall taste of our pizza. When added in small amounts to the dough, salt helps control the activity of the yeast and improve the structure of the gluten. This makes for a well-rounded and tasty piece of bread.
- Egg 1: Egg gives our pizza dough a rich and creamy texture and adds wetness and creaminess that make the pieces soft and delicious. When egg is lightly beaten and mixed into the dough, it gives the finished bread its golden color and smooth texture, taking it from ordinary to extraordinary.
- Flour 550 grams, or 4 1/5 cups: Flour gives our dough shape and body, which is what makes it strong enough to rise and spread while it's baking. Using both all-purpose flour and whole wheat flour together gives the bread a balanced taste and a chewy texture that is both filling and tasty.
- Chop 40 grams of green onions and 50 grams of spinach. Green onions and spinach give our pizza a burst of flavor and a bit of sweetness. They are also very fresh and a bright green color. These healthy vegetables are chopped up very small and mixed in with the dough. They give our bread a unique smell and flavor making for a truly memorable dining experience.
- Add 1/2 teaspoon of salt and 1/2 teaspoon of red pepper to our pizza. A pinch of salt and a dash of red pepper give it a gentle kick of heat and a burst of flavor making every bite a pleasure for the senses. As the dough's sweetness and the freshness of the green onions and spinach work together, these spices create a delicious mix of flavors that will please even the pickiest eater.
- Butter 100 grams: Butter gives our flatbread a touch of decadence with its rich and creamy texture. It gives it a golden crust and a melt-in-your-mouth creaminess that's hard to resist. When melted and brushed all over the cooked flatbread, butter makes it taste better and gives it a fancy finish that will impress even the pickiest eater.
Instructions
- Mix hot water, salt, and an egg in a large mixing bowl until everything is well combined.
- As you slowly add the flour to the wet ingredients, stir them together steadily with a wooden spoon until a soft dough forms.
- Place the dough on a lightly floured surface and knead it very well for 5 to 7 minutes, or until it becomes smooth and easy to work with.
- Put the kneaded dough back in the mixing bowl and cover it with a clean cooking towel. Leave it to rest for 30 minutes to an hour so that it can ferment and soak up the flavors.
- Once the dough has had time to relax, divide it into even pieces and smooth each piece into a ball shape.
- Try to make each dough ball about 1/4 inch thick when you flatten it into a circle.
- Melt a small amount of butter in a pan that has been warmed over medium-low heat. Place the flattened dough rounds in the pan and cook them for about two to three minutes on each side, or until they turn a beautiful brown color and show signs of being fully cooked.
- Make the filling while the flatbreads are cooking: Over a medium heat, melt the butter in a separate pan. Mix chopped spinach and green onions with melted butter. Season with salt and red pepper. The blend should be cooked for three to four minutes, or until the veggies are soft and the mixture smells good.
- When the flatbreads are done cooking, take them out of the pan and put them on a serving plate in a way that looks good.
- Sprinkle a lot of the sautéed spinach and green onions on top of each flatbread to make sure it's covered evenly.
